What If The Most Important Desk – Isn’t In an Office?
Some of the most critical decisions in manufacturing aren’t made behind a desk—they’re made on the production floor, and with a laptop on a toolbox.

It’s Earned. Never Given.
Some people dream of a corner office with a view.
But this—this rolling Craftsman toolbox—is the desk of a controls engineer. This is a picture of my toolbox during a project in Michigan.
But it’s where multi-million dollar projects are launched, commissioned, and sustained. It’s where billion-dollar companies turn when the stakes are high, and the systems have to run flawlessly.
This isn’t just a toolbox. It’s a mobile command station—capable of running a facility that employs hundreds, with machines humming, conveyors moving, and data streaming. It’s where logic gets written, problems get crushed, and production gets pushed to new limits.
Leadership in our world doesn’t come from title or talk. It comes from execution—under pressure, under budget, and often underappreciated.
So no, it’s not a mahogany desk in a glass tower.
But it’s earned—through grit, precision, responsibility, and relentless problem-solving.
And in our line of work? That’s what really matters.
